2016 Scots School Albury Highland Gathering

The band was involved in this inaugural event. We started with a street march through the centre of Albury, culminating in an impromptu performance in QEII Square. A retired member – Graeme Flood – took these photos of the prep beforehand, with the band under the control of Pipe Sergeant Roger Buck and Pipe Corporal Carl Rogalski:

After a break, a group of the pipers from AWPD then competed with the Scots School Albury Pipe Band, achieving a respectable 3rd place in Grade 4. We lined up to play for the Drum Major’s contest as the Highland Gathering Duty band. Our very own Barry Prater stepped out for his first ever contest. Barry has been tutored by World Champion Drum Major Brian Wilson over the last week and he put in a very solid performance.

Here is some video of the Drum Majors in action – featuring our very own Barry Prater!

The massed bands in the Tattoo saw AWPD step out again and this time our very own Pipe Major had a chance for a tune by himself, playing the solo for Amazing Grace:

A huge thanks to Andrew Falconer for these photos – he does the band a great service and we really appreciate it.
