2017 Corowa Federation Festival

Ah the Federation Festival – usually the first big day on the band calendar and always warm. This year was no exception. By the time the street march started at 11am, it was already over 35C. The heat grew as the day wore on, but the members of the band pushed through it.

The street march is a long march – fortunately downhill though and we stepped through it briskly. The new G1 chanters the band purchased are starting to really come up and the sound was very good. The crowds were large and appreciative, making for an enjoyable trip.

On the way down the hill and looking very smart!

On completion we turned around and headed back up the hill for the massed bands, joining the 5th/6th Army Regiment Pipe Band, and Wangaratta Pipe Band. Joined together we went down the street again, making a very impressive noise.

Once we finished it was time to go back up the hill again and get the cars to bring them down for the performance on the mound. Another massed bands with solos from Laura Watson and one of the Army Pipers and led by AWPD Pipe Major Angus Beath
